As more Chinese people shift their attention to traditional culture, 24 solar terms have become a great inspiration to many artists.

Liu Qinghe, an artist, has created a series of ink paintings based on the solar terms that will go on show at Beijing's 798 art district on Nov. 5.

In pale colored ink, Liu's works feature themes of each solar term, including plants and animals.

Unlike other artists who try to portray the beauty of the solar terms and special customs, Liu focused more on private emotions and understanding.

The colors he used are very light and some are totally black, yet they convey a soft, surreal and dream-like feeling.
