The 2017 Chinese American TV Festival kicked off on Monday in Los Angeles, a major city in the western U.S. state of California, aiming to promote television cooperation between China and the United States.

More than 100 Chinese TV productions will be screened at the festival.

Noting both China and the United States are great countries with rich TV resources and huge TV markets, Cultural Counselor of Chinese Consulate-General in Los Angeles, Gu Jin, said the TV festival is beneficial to the development of the TV industry of the two countries, as well as the understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

In September, the organizing committee officially announced that the TV series part of the Chinese American Film Festival, which is held in every November, would be upgraded to the Chinese American TV Festival from this year.

"It is so exciting to have the very first time in which Chinese American TV Festival is being celebrated, but for now, (for) 13 years Chinese American Film Festival has been operating and has been getting bigger and bigger," said U.S. Congresswoman Judy May Chu.

"So I have to really congratulate you on bringing these incredible cross cultural experiences," she added.

Both the Chinese American TV Festival and Chinese American Film Festival are organized by EDI Media Inc, which offers media relations services in the United States, with the support of the China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Chinese Embassy in the United States.
