More than 500 companies from over 20 countries and regions presented their cutting edge products and technologies to the public, at the World Internet of Things Expo (WIOT), which opened in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, on Sunday.

Dozens of high-tech products have been designed to meet a wide variety of needs, and can be freely experienced in the Expo.

After pressing the "GO" button on the tablet computer in a car, people can experience driverless technology in the exhibition venue. Using 5G technology, the car can efficient download information from the immediate surroundings, so that it can, for example, freely change lanes based on analysis of the nearby traffic. But this tech isn't just reserved for cars that are in development, this presentation shows that standard cars can be refitted to become driverless.

Also, by using 5G technology, a real-time 240-degree high-definition video can be beamed to designated drivers 100 kilometers away.

The Iris recognition technology has combined with household locks to offer more secure door opening process. Even if the host were not at home, the door can also be opened for friends or other family members through 4G video calls.

There are also intelligent clothes that can adjust temperature, a mattress that can record and analyse sleep and a self-service system for health examination, all of which will help make people's lives more convenient in the future.

Held in Taihu International Expo Centre, the event will last four days till September 13. The theme of this year is "Internet of Things Link the World, and Create the World Together," an idea which will have a significant impact on developing the Internet of Things, facilitating industry transformation, either with upgrades or brand new concepts.
