The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has recently received a letter from a 9-year-old asking to be considered for the position of planetary protection officer, reported ABC News.

Enthusiastic about aliens, Jack Davis, a fourth grader from the U.S. state of New Jersey, applied for the position by sending a handwritten letter dated Aug. 3.

Though at a young age, he stated in the letter that he thinks he would be "fit for the job" and listed several reasons such as his passion for space and alien study.

He added that his youth is another advantage which will help him "learn to think like an alien."

The young enthusiast also cited his sister who thinks he is an alien before signing his letter with "Jack, Guardian of the Galaxy."

The boy's dream job, NASA planetary protection officer, was created in the 1960s and offers an annual salary of more than 124,000 U.S. Dollars, according to the USAJOBS website.

With security clearance listed as "secret," the role involves protecting astronauts and robots from possible contamination of any microbial and biological alien material during space travel.

The job is open to U.S. citizens and nationals for applications until Aug. 14 and has sparked a lot of excitement in the public.
