The U.S. on Wednesday issued a ban prohibiting its citizens from travelling to the DPRK from September 1, the State Department said.

The travel ban came after the death of American university student Otto Warmbier who died after being released from 18-months in detention in the country.

People who are currently in the DPRK on a U.S. passport should depart North Korea before the travel restriction enters into effect on September 1, according to the travel alert of the State Department.
