Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome says China has become a strategic development partner of Ethiopia.

The president so remarked while bidding farewell to departing Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia La Yifan on Monday, according to the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).

Commenting on the strategic partnership of the two countries, President Mulatu said China has played a key role in financing Ethiopia's mega development projects.

The investment share of Chinese companies in Ethiopia has also been ever-growing thereby creating more jobs for citizens along with technology transfer, he said.

The president noted the participation of Chinese firms and experts in infrastructural development works like the Ethio-Djibouti rail line has immense contribution to the overall national development.

For his part, Ambassador La hailed Ethiopia's expeditious economic growth, saying he would keep on playing a part to buttress Ethio-China partnership even further.
