Border police in Lincang city, southwest China's Yunnan Province, seized 1.025 tonnes of drugs this year.

By July 21, police in Lincang on the China-Myanmar border had arrested 226 suspects in 422 cases, according to statement Monday. It is the fifth consecutive year that police in the city have confiscated more than 1 tonne of drugs in a year.

Local police have developed a series of tactics to crack down on drugs, including setting up 30 checkpoints in key inspection areas.

City residents also played a part in tackling drug crime. In 2017, public tip-offs led to drug busts in 89 cases, with 555.48 kg of drugs confiscated.

Lincang is near Southeast Asia's Golden Triangle, a major area for opium production.
