Three tourists destroyed a fence at the Changsha Geo-zoo in central China's Hunan Province to gain entry to the park for free.

However, they didn't realize they were just 50 meters away from danger as seven tigers were wandering around that part of the zoo.

Fortunately the ticket evaders were found in time by security through monitoring equipment.

Zhang Bin, the zoo's Chief of Security, said the section of fence had clear danger notices which the three clearly ignored.

Similar instances of people being hurt or killed in zoos have happened in China recently.

Earlier this year, a man inadvertently climbed into a tiger enclosure to avoid buying a ticket and was mauled to death at a zoo in Ningbo.

While in July last year, tigers attacked two females who left their car at Beijing's Badaling Wildlife Park, with one of the women killed on the spot.
