Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has recently visited a plastic factory for disabled soldiers and highlighted the need to ensure their care remains priority, official media reported Wednesday.

Kim offered field guidance at the Rangnang Disabled Soldiers' Essential Plastic Goods Factory, and asked about the health of all the disabled soldiers and their troubles, said the Korean Central News Agency.

"He said that he came to the factory to encourage the disabled soldiers" to continue to serve the nation with the same patriotism shown during their military service, said the report.

Kim praised the factory as a model in equipment management with newly built welfare service facilities and a sci-tech knowledge room.

"There is nothing to spare for disabled soldiers, the treasures of the country," he was quoted as saying, adding that all the party organizations "should regard it as their duty and mission to take meticulous care of the lives of the disabled soldiers."

The tour came shortly after Catalina Devandas Aguilar, UN special rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, visited the DPRK for the first time last week.

The DPRK is a signatory of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
