Tang Renjian was elected governor of northwest China's Gansu Province on Friday.

He was elected at the seventh session of the 12th provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.

Tang, a native of southwest China's Chongqing municipality, was born in 1962. He had worked with the Ministry of Agriculture, and was later vice chairman in the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to information on the official website of Gansu provincial government.

Tang moved to Gansu this year, where he was appointed vice governor and acting governor of the province last month.
