Zhu Ting, China's star spiker and Most Valuable Player in the Rio Olympic volleyball tournament, said she was negotiating with the sports authority of Henan Province and VakifBank club,to strike a deal that would allow her to "perhaps" stay on for next season.

Zhu Ting joined Turkish side VakifBank last September, and clinched the first title in a 25-19, 25-13, 25-23 victory over Conegliano in the women's volleyball Champions League final held in Treviso, Italy on April 23.

She returned to her hometown in Henan province in central China on May 2 to prepare for the 13th Chinese National Games.

"My physical condition has made great progress in last 7 months with VakifBank; I played in many games such as last year's World Women's Club Championship, the Turkish Women's Volleyball League and the women's volleyball Champions League," Zhu said on Tuesday. She also said she expects to play in next week's FIVB World Women's Club Championship in Japan.

Zhu was named MVP of the women's volleyball Champions League, but she says that she is not satisfied entirely with her performance this season, grading herself at only 50 percent.

"We lost the championship of the Turkish Women's Volleyball League which was my favourite, so I cut my score in half," Zhu said. VakifBank got third place in the 2016-2017 Turkish Women's Volleyball League.

Women's volleyball preliminaries of the National Games will take place on May 18, so Zhu has only a few days to train in Henan.

"Although I played with Henan and worked well with my teammates before, I need a run-in period, after all I have been away for 7 months," Zhu said.
