Taiwan resident held on spying suspicions

A Taiwan resident is currently under investigation for suspicion of endangering national security, said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on Wednesday at a routine press conference.

Ma was responding to questions about reports that Lee Ming-che, a former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) worker, went missing after entering southern China's Guangdong from Macao.

Lee is in good condition, added Ma.

The Chinese mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, and "Taiwan independence" can never be allowed, according to a Chinese mainland spokesman on Wednesday.
