About 110 firefighters are trying to put out a fire that has spread from Myanmar to China, and is threatening two townships and a nature reserve near the border, according to the local fire prevention department on Sunday.

The Yunnan Province authorities said the blaze moved from its point of origin in Myanmar across the Chinese border on Saturday afternoon and has approached Pianma and Luzhang townships in the city of Lushui, as well as part of the Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve.

A total of 110 firefighters have been deployed to difficult terrain around the blaze at about 3,100 meters above sea level. The affected area of 120,000 square kilometers has no known human inhabitants, according to the local authorities.

China's National Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters has asked the local authorities to pay attention to any weather changes near the fire, put out the fire as soon as possible and do what they can to minimize the loss of forest resources, the State Forestry Bureau wrote on its official website Sunday.

The forestry bureau website also published information about a fire in Chayu county, the Tibet Autonomous Region on Saturday afternoon. The forest fire affected a total of 67,000 square kilometers before being extinguished by local firefighters, it said. No one was hurt.
