China has provided most assistance in renovating earthquake-hit pagodas and temples in Bagan, an ancient city in central Myanmar, said Thura U Aung Ko, Myanmar Minister for Ministry of Religion and Culture, Wednesday.

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on Aug.24 last year, affecting 425 ancient pagodas and temples in the ancient city.

Thura U Aung Ko told the media following an international discussion that China's donation and technical support in renovation work has strengthened the bilateral friendship between peoples of Myanmar and China, saying that such friendship will be everlasting.

Meanwhile, China, Myanmar and UNESCO archeologist teams met in Bagan on the same day to discuss the plan of renovation and conservation work for earthquake-hit pagodas and temples, exchanging views and experiences.

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang said that the archeologist team from China will cooperate with other international teams to help renovate Bagan pagodas.

Hong also pledged China's commitment to donating 1 million U.S. dollars more for the renovation work in addition to the first donation of the same amount.
