After a disappointing season in the CSL for Beijing Guoan that saw them finish fifth and miss out on the AFC Champions League, the Capital Club fired Alberto Zaccheroni.
Guoan have now found a replacement in the familiar form of Jose Gonzalez, who was an assistant coach with the side.
The 50 year old Spaniard Gonzalez is also a former player in the CSL, who last laced up his boots for Tianjin and retired with the club in 1997 at the age of 30.
His familiarity with Chinese football extends to the touchline as well as Gonzalez served as assistant to Gregorio Manzano who coached Guoan from 2014-15.
Gonzalez then became coach of Spanish La Liga side Granada in February this year and helped the Andalucian club remain in the top flight last season. Gonzalez is expected to arrive in China in January.
