Fancy a good job with a top hotel or club, a private mansion, or on an international cruise or flight? Then your solution might be to become a butler. And butlers are becoming a hot topic in China.
A butler service training program was jointly launched yesterday by Shanghai Sanda University and the International Butler Academy in the Netherlands to meet the market demand in China and abroad.
The program began with 36 students, who will receive training over 40 days, including staff management, housekeeping, table management, financial and marketing management, as well as communication skills and etiquette.
"Butler service is more and more globally popular with social development and has been introduced into management of top star-level hotels and high-end property in China as a new individualized service business model," said Ma Delin, dean of the school of management at Sanda.
Ma said Sanda had prepared for the program for two years and had invited the renowned the International Butler Academy to give students international and standard training.
All the courses would be taught by senior trainers from the academy, which would give qualified students international butler certificates that were highly valued in the industry in Europe and America, he added.
Graduates of the program are expected to work as senior service staff at top hotels, clubs, private mansions, luxurious communities and international cruises and flights.
"Several five-star hotels have showed interest in this training program and are willing to provide internships for our students," said Ma.
