Northeast Normal University's original dance drama Sentient Beings will be staged at the Beijing Dance Academy Theater for its second night in a row on Friday, according to a press release sent to the Global Times.
Set in Northeast China during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the drama focuses on an ordinary family trying to survive the chaos of the time.
The four-act dance drama features 13 dance routines that seek to capture the life experiences of the family members.
Except for two teachers, the cast are students from the university who have spent more than six months working on the show.
"It has been a challenge considering the huge importance of this historical topic, but we made it," Liu Lian, dean of the School of Music at Northeast Normal University, said in the press release. After Beijing, the performance will head out on a national tour.
