The Chinese Paralympic delegation was welcomed home at Beijing International Airport on Tuesday following an impressive 2016 Rio Paralympics campaign.

The 308-strong Chinese delegation topped the table for the fourth consecutive time with 107 gold, 81 silver and 51 bronze medals, the best performance since 1984 and became only the third country to win 100 gold medals in a single edition of the Paralympic Games.

Wang Zhoubin, a player of the blind soccer team which broke into the last four in the Paralympic Games said:"We played well this time and showed what we have learned from the daily training. The semifinals against Brazil impressed me most in which we tried our best, but the host did better than us, we are satisfied with this result."

Li Zhijun, vice chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation, said, "I am proud of them and inspired by their spirits, and I think the whole nation will be proud of what they have achieved in this campaign."

A student from Beijing Sports University, surnamed Yu, welcomed these paralympians at the airport.

"I worked with some of the athletes, especially with the table tennis players. I thought it would be a tough mission in Brazil, but they did amazing jobs with adjustment and dedication. It was not easy for them. I think my work with them will go on and benefit more paralympians," Yu said.
