Autumn is in the air in Hanghzou as the mercury plunges below 25 degrees Celsius this week. The upcoming season is a perfect time to enjoy some of the area's best outdoor activities.

People can watch the spectacular tidal bores in the Qiantang River from now to October 20 at several spots in Jianggan District; such as Jiubao, Qibao, Sanbao, or at City Balcony in Qianjiang New Town. Observers are urged to beware of surging tides during typhoons and other extreme weather events.

Those who enjoy hiking are encouraged to wander through the fall foliage at Banshan National Forest Park in Gongshu District, Xishan Forest Park in Xihu District, Daqishan National Forest Park in Tonglu County, Baima Lake in Binjiang District, Xianghu Lake in Xiaoshan District, and Daciyan Scenic Area in Jiande.
Visitors can take a ride on a vintage train pulled by a steam locomotive in the White Pagoda Park in Shangcheng District.
The locomotive, retrofitted with an electric motor, pulls a green passenger car with 108 seats on a 500-meter-long track in the park.
