The 2016 Shanghai Amway Nutrilite Health Run, one of the city's best-known charity running events, will be held on October 22, the organizers announced.

The start line will be at Pudong's China Art Museum. The 6-kilometer route will include Shibo Avenue, Yaolong Road and Yongyao Road, before ending at Oriental Sports Center. There is no time limit set for the runners and between 5,000 and 10,000 are expected to take part.

Jointly organized by Shanghai Charity Foundation and Shanghai Sports Bureau, the event will set up a charity bazaar for its participants at the finish line, as well as performances and interactive games. Sponsor Amway Nutrilite will donate 15 yuan ($2.24) for each runner to Shanghai Charity Foundation. The profits collected at the charity bazaar will also go to the foundation to be used in organizing charity activities for mentally challenged children.

As part of the event, 600 Special Olympic athletes and volunteers will jog in groups in front of the China Art Museum.

Citizens can register for the event through the smartphone application "Codoon" or dial 58216683 for more information. The entry fee is 50 yuan per person.

The Amway Nutrilite Health Run has been held since 2002, and has visited various cities, including Beijing and Guangzhou, as well as Shanghai on a number of occasions.

More than four million people around the country have taken part in the run.
