A Chinese academy for arbitration law on Friday proposed to set up a global arbitration research alliance to strengthen exchange in the field.

Guo Feng, deputy secretary-general of the China Academy of Arbitration Law, said the initiative has been echoed by nine arbitration organizations from such countries as the U.K., Japan and Singapore.

The alliance aims to explore new international arbitration rules, establish cooperation, and enhance international arbitration, he added at a forum held in Beijing Friday.

Guo said the alliance will include hundreds of arbitration organizations worldwide and become the largest exchange platform in the arbitration field.

According to the China Academy of Arbitration Law, China's 61 arbitration commissions handled 1,785 arbitration cases related to other countries as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in 2014, an increase of 189 from 2013.
