China's team named "Ala-Too" won the bronze of kok-boru event at the second World Nomad Games on Wednesday.

The Chinese team beat Bashkortostan, Russia, 18-2 at the hippodrome in Kyrgyz town of Cholpon-Ata for the bronze.

Kok-boru is a game of many formerly nomadic peoples, which tests agility, strength and courage of participants.

Kok-boru, which translates into English as gray wolf, has its origins in the past, from a time when men went out to hunt and their families and cattle remained under the supervision of elders, women and children.

Wolves often attacked livestock and caused many problems.

After returning from the hunt, angry men would go to chase after the wolf pack. Having caught up with the pack, they would pick up running wolves from the ground, throwing them between each other.

The game today requires teams to throw a dead sheep or goat into their opponent's well on the playing field.

The Second World Nomad Games featuring 26 events started on Sept. 3 in Kyrgyzstan's Cholpon-Ata town and last till Sept. 8. The Games attracted around 500 athletes from 62 countries and regions.

Over 500 media representatives came to cover the Games. More than 280 of them are from 90 foreign media representing 35 countries and regions.
