Legal official Meng Jianzhu said Monday that China was willing to improve exchanges with the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Meng, when speaking with visiting ICJ president Ronny Abraham, lauded the United Nations' ICJ for helping to resolve international disputes since it was established 70 years ago.

Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called on both sides to enhance mutual understanding, learn from each other's experience in building the rule of law, and deepen judicial cooperation.

Abraham pledged to enhance cooperation to promote the rule of law in international relations.
