Famous Chinese pianist, Lang Lang, said he was honored to be back in Argentina, after a stellar performance in Buenos Aires' Colon Theatre on Saturday night.

Lang Lang spoke to Xinhua after the show to speak of his emotion at being back in the country after a two-year absence.

"I am very, very happy and honored to be back after two years, following my concert in 2014," said the musician, in one of the world's finest acoustic venues. "I felt an incredible connection with the audience."

The Chinese artist thrilled his fans with performances of "The Seasons" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, "Italian Concerto" by Johann Sebastian Bach, and Frederic Chopin's 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th scherzos.

The audience gave him a standing ovation led by the Chinese ambassador to Argentina, Yang Wanming.

"I received great, positive energy from the public, which is why I am very, very happy to have played here," explained Lang.

In the program of the gala, organizers stated that "modern piano and Lang Lang are almost synonymous. The synthesis of image and sound find in the Chinese pianist a captivating meeting point. Clarity of touch, charisma, depth of repertoire and a sharp focus are some of the factors that have made Lang Lang one of the brightest musical stars of our time."

The pianist, 34, will continue his Latin American tour with a concert in Santiago, Chile, on August 15, before beginning a world tour in September.

Lang Lang added that his new album, "New York Rhapsody", a homage to a city he loves, will come out in September. It will feature collaborations with Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys, Jason Isbell, Jeffrey Wright, Kandace Springs, Lindsey Stirling, Lisa Fischer, Madeleine Peyroux and Sean Jones.
