A popular Chinese choir song named "My Body is Hollowed Out" has gone wild among Internet users, who feel the song is a vivid account of their life as an "overtime dog," or "jiabangou" in Chinese.

As China is enjoying rapid economic and social development, a new breed of office worker has emerged.

However, the country's white collars, for whom working long hours has become common, share the downside of an increasingly prosperous society: overtime and greedy bosses.

With lyrics such as "I haven't removed my makeup for 18 days" and "with unbalanced work and rest I have grown fat," the song has struck a chord with those working in China's gleaming skyscrapers.

"Who needs sleep? What a waste of time," it continues, before reaching its chorus: "My body feels hollowed out, no more overtime, (exhausted), I'm so dog-tired."

By the end of Sunday, page views of the topics related to the song has reached 340 million, comments has surpassed 200,000, video of the song has been played more than 30 million times and shared for over 150,000 times on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The song, loved by Chinese working class who label it as the mirrior of their daily life, is a delicate mixture of popular music, chorus, advertising jingles and other forms of music performed by Shanghai-based Rainbow Chamber Singers.

Performers of the video wear fluffy dog ears and put on weary face to mimic the look of an "overtime dog."

Many netizens said the song has let out their inner voices.

"I've been playing this song repeatedly. I hope my boss could watch it," said one post.

"I like it though it's a bit exaggerated. It's self-mockery in artistic forms," said another.

"After this song, I have strength to work overtime again," wrote another.
