The 11th stage of Silkway Rally was cancelled due to bad weather conditions, organizers announced on Wednesday.
The 11th stage was scheduled to take place on Wednesday between Dunhuang to Jiayuguan over a distance of 561km. However, the bad weather conditions and the heavy wind in Dunhuang prevented the helicopters from taking off on time to launch the race.
"Without helicopters, the safety of the race could not be ensured. This is the reason for cancelling Leg 11, from Dunhuang to Jiayuguan," said the organizers in a statement.
The 12th stage on Thursday will take place between Jiayuguan and Alashan over a distance of 666km.
