The Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has trained more than 31,370 people since 2013, according to official figures.

The figure is roughly the total number of trainees over the previous eight years, said Xu Weixin, vice president of the school, at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Party School, with about 3,000 branches across the country, trains existing and potential CPC or government officials.

According to Xu, these schools serve as a key base for the study, research and publicity of Party theories as well as an institute for the Party's research on philosophy and social sciences.

Xu noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the Party School has seen increasing numbers of courses and trainees, with special programs targeting county Party chiefs and university principals.
