Macao will resume its live poultry trade Wednesday, the special administrative region's civil affairs authorities said on Tuesday.

Macao's Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau said the live poultry will come from its neighbor city Zhuhai in southeast China's Guangdong province on Wednesday, and will be sold in markets on Thursday if they pass the avian flu test.

On June 22, an H7 avian flu virus strain was detected in poultry sold in a market in Macao. The authorities suspended live poultry sales and culled all 9,000 live poultry in the market where the positive sample was detected

During the two weeks, all poultry markets in Macao received daily sterilization. Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau also kept contact with Guangdong's inspection and quarantine authorities for preparation of resuming live poultry trade.
