Senior diplomats from China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states will hold their routine meeting on the South China Sea next week in Vietnam.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily press briefing that Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin will attend the meeting.

The 12th Senior Officials Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of the Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) will be held in Vietnam on June 9.

China and ASEAN members will exchange views on comprehensive and effective implementation of the DOC and strengthen practical maritime cooperation and "early harvest" programs, according to Hua.

They will also exchange views on advancing consultations on a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea (COC) under the framework of DOC implementation, said Hua.

The 11th meeting on the issue was held in Singapore in April.
