The Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group reached another milestone with the opening of The Langham, Haikou on May 28.

Set in the capital of Hainan Province, The Langham, Haikou takes its place as the eighth Langham hotel in China. It is also the 20th Langham hotel globally, joining other Langham Hotels and Resorts in key cities such as London, New York, Chicago, Shanghai, and Sydney. A new landmark of elegant and classic luxury in the city skyline, The Langham is strategically located in the Guomao district in the heart of Haikou.

"We are delighted to introduce the Langham brand to the rapidly growing city of Haikou," said Robert Warman, the chief executive officer of the Langham Hospitality Group. "Together with the developer, Hainan Xinruidu Industry Investment, we are committed to creating a luxury hotel experience and a sophisticated lifestyle destination that will be the centerpiece of this exciting new urban development."

Designed by US-based architects SRSS, The Langham, Haikou boasts classic detailing, generous spaces and tasteful interiors. With 249 rooms and suites spread out over 14 floors, guests staying for business or leisure can enjoy breathtaking views of the city or the South China Sea. All the rooms and suites feature specially commissioned art pieces and plush textiles and are elegantly styled with a palette of creams and gold to create havens of warmth and refinement.

For guests who require the ultimate in luxury accommodation, the hotel's 356-square-meter presidential suite features two bedrooms with unobstructed views of the South China Sea, separate sitting, dining and cooking areas as well as an oversized Jacuzzi in the main en -suite bathroom.

Catering to diverse appetites, The Langham, Haikou invites guests to experience a range of international cuisines and dining options. Inspired by the studios and workshops of the Renaissance masters, the all-day dining restaurant Atelier features a truly interactive open kitchen, smokehouse and an oyster and champagne bar. As the namesake restaurant of the group's Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Hong Kong, T'ang Court offers authentic Cantonese and Hainanese culinary delights. Taking full advantage of the sixth-floor English-style garden, Star Bar and Restaurant is a stylish destination for a casual drink or barbecue dinner.

The group's signature award-winning Chuan Spa offers therapies based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) using the five elemental forces of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The spacious spa includes five private treatment rooms and features a steam room and Jacuzzi and a foot massage treatment room, making it an unrivaled retreat for those in need of pampering. Other recreational facilities include a fitness center with the latest workout equipment and an outdoor swimming pool, a calming retreat to relax in the sunlight or exercise with a leisurely swim.

Erich Kaiserseder, the general manager at The Langham, Haikou said that as the growing economic, financial and tourism hub of Hainan Province, Haikou presents outstanding opportunities for the hospitality industry.

"Our mission is to be recognized as the top luxury hotel in Hainan, and I sincerely believe we have the best hotel and colleagues to achieve that goal," he said. "I'm excited and proud to head an experienced, passionate and talented team as we get ready to welcome our first guests with the finest service befitting the Langham brand."
