Family members have confirmed a body found earlier Friday is the missing female Hong Kong tourist in the Koh Samui speedboat tragedy, Chinese Consulate General in Songkhla told Xinhua.

An official from the consulate general said they are helping family members of the victim to deal with the case.

The female Hong Kong tourist is the third confirmed victim of the incident, after another two female tourists respectively from Britain and Germany, while a British man is still missing.

A speedboat, packed with 32 tourists, a guide and 3 crewmen, capsized during its way back to Koh Samui after hit by strong waves on Thursday.

Most people on aboard were quickly rescued by another speedboat passing by while the remaining passenger and the remaining were picked up later by an official rescue boat, Bangkok Post reported.

The British and German tourists died as they were trapped inside the capsized boat, while the body of the Hong Kong tourist was found at about 11 a.m local time.

The official from consulate general mentioned that family members of victims may get 1 million baht (28 thousand USD) if the company running the capsized speedboat has brought insurance for its passengers, but it remains to be seen.

The official also suggested that every tourist buy personal accident insurance before starting a new trip.
