Obesity is becoming an issue in the city of Bangkok recently, and experts believe the problem is closely linked to the amount of oil people consume in their diet.
To battle obesity, BBDO Bangkok, an advertising agency, has partnered with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, to come up with a product that focuses on how the food is served. The ad agency and its client decided to shift their angle away from trying to change people's cooking behavior. Instead, how the food is served is the core here.
The solution provided is called the AbsorbPlate, which features 500 perforations that catch and hold some of the grease from the food it holds. The ad agency claims it will capture 7 ml of oil, which is about one and a half teaspoons, and some 30 calories.
