Three people have been killed and another three are missing following heavy rain in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region over the last few days.

Nearly 115,000 people have been affected by the storms since they hit eight cities and 23 counties in the region on Sunday, local authorities said on Thursday.

Two people were killed by falling trees and another one drowned. The three missing people all fell into flood water.

According to the local civil affairs bureau, as of Thursday afternoon, 6,485 people have been relocated. More than 5,000 hectares of crops were damaged, resulting in a direct economic loss of 91.69 million yuan (11.2 million U.S. dollars).

Heavy rain and hail have hit large swaths of central, northern and western China this week.
