Chinese tech firm Huawei on Wednesday held a show in Zambia of its high-end products and services.

Among those on display were products linked to cloud computing and big data.

Huawei Zambia says it aims to provide the government and the public with efficient and affordable information and communications technology (ICT) solutions.

"Thanks to the government's foresight and Huawei's technology, in the near future, I believe everyone in Zambia will be able to enjoy modern telecommunication technology equally and conveniently," said Emilion Ming, Huawei Zambia country director.

Attending the show, Yang Youming, Chinese ambassador to Zambia, commended the firm for its continuous efforts to promote ICT development in Zambia.

Yang said China had made striking advancements in the ICT sector in the past 30 years and that the use of technologies in firms had a great positive impact on boosting business.

Zambia's Minister of Transport and Communication, Kapembwa Simbao, said the government was promoting electronic commerce and had embarked on a project to create a national data center.

Huawei has been operating in Zambia for 12 years.
