The 2016 New Zealand Film Festival, which will be held in Shanghai from April 21 to 30, will screen 7 recent productions at the UME International Cineplex and Palace Cinema (iAPM Branch).

The films cover a wide range of genre and styles including biopic, romantic comedy and suspense.

Among them are award-winning director Jane Campion's "An Angel at My Table" that deals with the life of New Zealand writer Janet Frame, "The World's Fastest Indian," an inspirational biopic starring Anthony Hopkins, "Boy" that has a drama plot, romantic comedy "Eagle vs Shark," youth film "Rain," suspense thriller "In My Father's Den," and "My Wedding and Other Secrets" based on a true love story.

The movies discuss varied subjects of family, love and dream with many of them highlighting stunning Kiwi landscapes.

Filmmakers from China and New Zealand are involved in the first co-production of 3D animated adventure film "Magic Legend." It is expected to be released globally next year.
