Liu Yuehong, former deputy director of the fire supervision and administration department of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, on Wednesday stood trial for corruption at the people's court of Nanshan District.

The city procuratorate accuses Liu of embezzling over 400,000 yuan (about 62,000 U.S.dollars) and accepting bribes totaling 1.5 million yuan from September 2002 to November 2014. She pleaded guilty.

Liu was arrested on these charges late 2014.

Her case is one of many graft allegations leveled against 44 former officials associated with the Shenzhen fire department, involving 40 million yuan in ill-gotten gains.
