Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on Wednesday spoke highly of the progress made in preparation of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and called for further coordination and all out play in the Games' organization.

Zhang noted that successful Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will further showcase China's achievements in modernization, reform and opening-up as well as its efforts in satisfying people's needs.

Zhang said that the ideas of innovation, coordination, green development, opening-up and sharing should be fully implemented in organizing the Games to promote the development of all of humanity.

Beijing, with Zhangjiakou as a co-host, was awarded the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games during an International Olympic Committee Session on July 31, 2015.

As the overall plan of the preparation had already been made, Zhang stressed the need to carry it out as early as possible, the venue construction in particular.

Meanwhile, Zhang said that in terms of improving the infrastructure, the costs must be controlled to avoid any kinds of wastes.

As the preparation is a huge and systematic project, Zhang called for full coordination among the central government, host cities and relevant local governments.

Zhang also emphasized that the Winter Olympics and Paralympics can also be a strong push for creating a new economic belt and environment-friendly zone which incorporates Beijing with the surrounding Hebei Province and Tianjin, a port city to the capital's southeast.
