On March 15, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing officially announced that it will launch its electronic visa update system (EVUS) in November, which will make it mandatory for all Chinese U.S. 10-year visa holders to update their personal information. According to the embassy, Chinese U.S. visa holders will need to update their personal information on EVUS every two years in order to travel to the U.S.

The embassy said the move is not a new rule but a part of the 10-year visa agreement signed between China and U.S. in 2014.
