The National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, is in its annual session and considering crucial state matters including the central budget.

"The central budget under review of the NPC includes the budgets of CPC Central Committee departments, such as the Organization Department, Publicity Department, Party School, Office of Committee on Organizational Structure, and Work Committee of Central Government Departments," said Liu Xiuwen, deputy director of Budgetary Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee.

"Departments' budgets should be made public, according to the law. Based on the 14th Article of China's current Budget Law, after a department gets approval for its budget from the government's finance department, the budget should be made public within 20 days, with the exception of national security reasons," said Liu at a press conference on the NPC session's sidelines.

"More and more CPC Central Committee departments are making public their budgets," he said. "The Party School, Office of Committee on Organizational Structure, and Work Committee of Central Government Departments made public their budgets. At the same time, some local-level Party departments also made public their budgets, and the number of Party departments doing so is increasing."

"Looking forward, we will urge and support relevant departments to further make public their budgets," Liu added.
