Over one third of the proposals from China's national political advisors focused on economic issues, according to a report submitted to the annual session of the top political advisory body, which opened in Beijing on Thursday.[Special coverage]

Among the 6,012 proposals submitted by members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) since the 2015 session, 2,098 were about economic issues, said the report.

Those proposals involved adapting to the "New Normal" situation of the Chinese economy, reforming financial and taxation systems, improving financial regulation system, advancing precise poverty relief efforts, and enhancing the level of opening to the outside world.

For instance, political advisors' suggestions for the "Internet Plus" strategy and advancing the transition of traditional industries have been fully absorbed in an official guideline issued by the country's economic planning authorities.

Another 605 proposals were about judicial system reform and anti-graft efforts, while 378 addressed cultural issues, such as building public culture services, and strengthening the administration of cyberspace and new media.

In addition, political advisors paid high attention to the people's livelihood, putting forward 1,486 proposals on those issues.

Political advisors' proposals contributed to the full implementation of the two-child policy last year, and the rise of salaries of rural teachers, the report said.

Members of the CPC National Committee also made proposals and suggestions on issues including the building of the conservation culture, national defense, and the opening up policy.

The Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee had received responses to about 99.5 percent of the proposals from relevant authorities, according to the report.

A total of 19.5 percent of the proposals had been accepted while 64.4 percent were being considered, the report said.

Political advisors' work this year will focus on the enaction and implementation of the 13th Five-year Plan (2016-2020), and make proposals and suggestions in all respects of the society.
