A porcelain flowerpot that Sun Yat-sen received as gift 100 years ago has been repaired in central China's Hubei Province, according to local sources on Wednesday.

The pot was given to Dr. Sun when the founder of the Kuomintang Party visited the city of Wuhan in 1912 after he resigned from the post of president, said Li Qi, an expert in antique restoration.

The octagonal pot, 23 cm tall, features scholars in a bamboo forest. An eighteen-star flag symbolizing the victory of the Wuchang uprising, and a five-color flag, first national flag of the Republic of China, are also painted on the pot.

It will be exhibited at the Museum of the Wuchang Uprising of the 1911 Revolution.

Li noted that the pot showed the highest level of porcelain making technique at the time. Repairs took three weeks.

Dr. Sun was born in 1866 and died in 1925. He is known to the Chinese as a "great revolutionary and statesman" for his leading role during the 1911 Revolution, which overthrew the imperial Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and put an end to more than 2,000 years of feudal rule.
