Several other Taiwan cities have sent search and rescue teams to Kaohsiung to help the operation there.
Thirty-five firefighters from New Taipei city have left with 5 rescue vehicles and live detectors while the city of Taipei has sent 34 fire-fighters, two rescue dogs and rescue equipment.
The authorities have also recalled all firefighters who were on vacation.
