In the past notable transfer deals were mostly made by big European teams, but Chinese clubs are getting involved spending lavishly to lure and keep players in this country.

In fact the CSL and second-tier China League One, were two of the top spending circuits during the January transfer window.

Here is a look at some of the signings -- we will split this into two categories -- foreign and domestic players.

The biggest move was bringing Chelsea midfielder Ramires who signed a four-year contract with Jiangsu. The Chinese club paid 28 million euros to get the Brazilian to transfer.

Gervinho goes from Roma to Hebei, and the CSL team paid a transfer fee of 19 million euros. And SIPG dished out 18.5 million euros to get Elkeson from Guangzhou evergrande.

As for the top Chinese deals -- Liaoning goalkeeper Zhang Lu set a new record for a domestic player -- of 9.75 million euros to move to Chinese League One outfit Tianjin Quanjian.

The club also spent more than 9-million this summer to get Sun Ke. While Jiang Ning completed a move from Guangzhou R&F to Heibei worth 8.35 million euros. Lots of money being thrown around, but considerably more spent on import players.
