Lao willing to push foward relations with China: president

Lao President Choummaly Sayasone said here Wednesday his country is willing to promote the further development of relations with China.

Choummaly said he is grateful that Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of China, has attached great importance to relations between the two countries.

The Lao president made the remarks at a meeting with Song Tao, special envoy of President Xi and also the head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Song conveyed Xi's greetings and best wishes to Choummaly, and expressed appreciation for Choummaly's major contribution to Sino-Lao relations.

He said the Chinese side is ready to work with Laos to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Song, who arrived here Tuesday, held working-level talks with Chansy Phosikham, a member of both the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and head of the central committee's organization department.

He also had working-level talks with Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, a member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and head of the central committee's publicity department, and with his Lao counterpart Sounthone Xayachack on different occasions during his stay in the Lao capital.
