He may be already worth $35 billion, but real estate magnate Wang Jianlin saw huge Net gains recently when a video of him belting a Chinese rock classic for employees went viral.

The 4-minute video of Wang, chairman of conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group, singing karaoke at an employee gala has garnered 1.1 billion views globally since it was posted January 16.

The 61-year-old shows off his vocal chops with a solid rendition of "Fake Monk" by Cui Jian, who is widely known as China's "godfather of rock."

The video got more than 800 million plays on Chinese social media as of press time, and bagged another 300 million on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

In a ent.163.com Web survey, more than 90 percent said they wanted to see Wang take his talent center-stage during this year's Spring Festival Gala on CCTV.

The video also struck a chord internationally; The story was picked up by papers such as the Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal.
