Beijing students face higher health risks

Poor eyesight, obesity and dental caries are the three biggest health problems facing students in Beijing, according to a recently released report jointly issued by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, the Beijing Times reported.

The report shows that 68.44 percent of primary, middle school and university students have poor eyesight, a rise of 5.47 percent compared with 2010. Meanwhile 15.3 percent are overweight, and 16.93 percent are obese, representing increases of 3.54 and 3.38 percent, and boys experience higher rates of weight problems than girls.
