WIC to cover 10 forums and 22 hot topics

The eastern Chinese water-town of Wuzhen is gearing up to hold the World Internet Conference on December 16. [Special coverage]

The theme of the conference, which was held for the first time last year, is 'An Interconnected World Shared and Governed by All -- Building a Cyberspace Community of Shared Destiny'.

More than 2,000 guests of honor will attend the conference, including eight heads of state and about 50 ministerial officials.

The Chinese government has attached great importance to the event, and Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech.

The conference includes 10 forums where 22 hot topics will be discussed, including Internet cultural communication, Internet innovation, digital economic cooperation, and Internet governance.

An Internet-themed exposition will also be held during the conference to showcase advanced technologies and latest Internet developments.

Wuzhen, an ancient water town in Eastern China. For people from the booming Internet industry, it is now their Davos.

The world's Internet Giants will all be in the small town this week to talk, debate, or even fight on views about the future of the industry.

Now everywhere in the town, you could get access to the Internet. The wifi, QR code, mobile internet services are within reach. China now sees the Internet as a new growth engine of the economy. From e-commerce to O2O, Internet is transforming the way we live, communicate, and think, and the way the economy grows.

But it is not only about the economy. Security is a also a top concern. China is on high alert of Growing threat of hacking, online surveillance and other internet based crimes. The safety of information security has become a national strategic issue.
