Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has hailed China's support in developing the East African country's infrastructure.

Museveni said in a State House statement issued on Friday that China is currently financing the construction of two hydropower dams, building the Kampala-Entebbe Express way and modernizing the country's international airport.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and dozens of his counterparts from African countries attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Johannesburg, South Africa.[Special coverage]

Xi announced on Saturday that he and African leaders have reached consensus on lifting China-Africa relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Museveni noted that the partnership between China and Uganda will continue, adding that his government has signed a number of contracts with Chinese construction companies on infrastructure projects, especially the construction of the regional Standard Gauge Railway that will link Uganda to Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
