The discipline inspection commission of Chaoyang District in Beijing announced on Dec. 2 that it would punish several civil servants for their celebrity worship.

Faye Wong, arguably China's most popular singer and actress, went to the Chaoyang Real Estate Registration Center on the afternoon of April 17. Several staff of the center stopped work to take pictures of her and ask for her signature.

The announcement claimed that their behavior broke the normal working order of a government department and had a very bad effect.

Therefore, the discipline inspection commission of Chaoyang District gave Fan Mingyue, director of the real estate registration center, and three other staff members a warning punishment, respectively.
