China has played down its trampoline hopes in the 2016 Olympics despite having swept eight titles at the recently-concluded world championships.

"China confirmed its supremacy heading into next summer's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro," said the International Gymnastics Federation on its website, referring to China's maximum four tickets to the Games.

Although 2012 Olympic champion Dong Dong and 2008 winner He Wenna were ousted in the semifinals, China swept a record eight golds, three silvers and two bronzes at the Nov. 26-29 world championships in Odense, Denmark.

China's trampoline chief Li Ge admitted the picture for the Rio Games won't be as rosy as in the worlds.

"Men from Russia, Belarus and Japan have overtaken us in difficulty and score," Li said.

"Chinese women finished 1-2, only after Belarusian veteran Tatsiana Piatrenia made a mistake and Canada's reigning Olympic champion Rosannagh Maclennan wasn't at her best."

Li added the Chinese team will start to prepare for the Rio Games later this month.
